FAQ
Why show historical weather instead of a long-range forecast?
Weather forecasts are only reliable a couple of weeks out. For a trip you're planning months in advance, the most useful honest answer is what actually happened on those same calendar dates in past years — not a guess dressed up as a forecast.
Where does the historical data come from?
Open-Meteo's Historical Weather API (ERA5 reanalysis) — see /data-sources for the full attribution. It's the same data used for the month-by-month climate averages on each city's weather page.
When do I get an actual forecast for my trip?
Once your trip dates fall within Open-Meteo's forecast window (up to 16 days out), your saved trip card on the home page automatically shows the forecast for your exact dates alongside the historical comparison.
Is my trip saved to an account?
No — it's saved in your browser's local storage only, with no sign-up. It'll be there next time you visit this browser/device, but won't follow you to a different one.
